Composition photos

So for the community ed photography class I'm taking we were supposed to take photos with these nine rules of composition and them bring them to class to look at them.  So the night before class I remembered at 11:00 and hurried to find pictures fitting within these categories since I never had a chance to go out and actually just shoot with them in mind.  I was still up 'till 1 am looking and deciding which ones to use.  Of course, the teacher decided to not go over them that week.  So I'll post them here.

Assymetrical Assymetrical

Symmetrical (3) Symmetrical

Merger Merger (flower pot)

Framing Framing

Dominant Center (2) Dominant center

Bird's Eye Bird's Eye View

Bug's Eye View (3) Bug's Eye View

Rule of Thirds (2) Rule of Thirds

I really wanted the teacher's feedback.  Maybe he'll do it next week but it's the last week and we still have other things to talk about so I doubt it.   Oh well.  I guess that's what you get for $45.

Pictures from the Women's Retreat

IMG_3019 I'm obsessed with this tree at the cabin.  It is looking west (I think) from the porch.  I love the dark trunk and the contrast of its leaves.  It is beautiful in any season.

The early morning light lent itself to the beauty of the last few drops of rain maintaining their fragile residence upon the leaves.

All but a few were still asleep.  The cold, wet porch was refreshing to my bare feet.

The world was taking a deep breath as it readied itself to face another day.

Fall has begun,It has come.

That time when the leaves say goodbye to the trees!

I love autumn.  I love the colors as they change, I love the rain, I love the crisp air, I love sweaters.  I am a Spring and Fall kind of girl.

Visiting Uncle David

I don't know the name of this lake, but this is from the first campsite (or the last, depending on where you start) on the Teton Wagon Train and Horse Adventure where David works.  He took Jaiden out for a little ride in a canoe, which he liked very much.

Cloud

Family 025

This was taken from just across the street from the Provo Temple.  I liked the ring around it.

I took this on July 24th a the Spanish Fork Fiesta Days Parade. The original picture was neat in color, but I love the sepia.

My new blog

I decided to start a photography blog and leave the other for our family stuff. I have always loved to take pictures of everything. I recently got a digital SLR camera, the Canon Digital Rebel xTi and I absolutely love it. I love that it responds when I want it to, I love that I can shoot up to three frames per second. Believe me, with three boys, I definitely need that feature! I love the detail that I can get, that I can zoom in so close to things. I love my camera and am so excited to learn everything about photography.
I know that my knowledge is very limited and that I have much to learn. I really am just starting, but feel like I have finally figured out what I want to do, other than be a wife and mom, what I want to learn about. If you know me very well, you know what I think about going to school when you don't know what you want to study.
For now I know that I can't actually go to school because Carlos is in school and we have a young family. But there is a lot of information online as well as community classes and lots of practice.
I love close-ups, candid shots, old buildings, flowers, people, different angles and sunsets.
I know that I have a lot of cousins who are or have studied photography and take beautiful pictures, please don't be too critical of my work if you actually read this blog. Okay, you can be critical if you want, but don't tell me about it in the comments! Just kidding. I guess that is part of learning, as much as I hate criticism of any kind (even the constructive stuff).
After rambling on, what I guess I want to say is that I feel this is a way for me to express in some small way the things I see and even how I feel about them.
